One Visit Crowns and Veneers
The process of repairing a tooth with porcelain crowns ("caps") or veneers is now possible in only one visit using the latest in CAD/CAM computer technology. Previous methods required two or more appointments with temporary crowns and gooey molds of the damaged tooth. Now, a camera captures a digital image of the tooth to be repaired and creates a 3 dimensional virtual model of the tooth. Specialized software is used to design the virtual replacement, which is then milled from a porcelain block. The crown or veneer is then polished and bonded to your tooth to restore it to nearly its original condition. The crowns and veneers can even be custom colored and shaded to match your existing teeth as closely as possible. The entire process takes between 45 minutes to two hours depending on the complexity of the restoration; it is even possible to have an entirely new smile in just one day!
The benefits of the One Visit technique are obvious. First, you only need to have anesthetic once, instead of at both appointments that was usually necessary with the "old" two-visit method. Most important, it saves your time, cutting in half the lost work benefits, child care, or just plain "headache" required to have your tooth repaired.
